Are you thinking about buying Medicine online?

Find out what the FDA recommendations are

The FDA has a campaign called BeSafeRx: Know Your Online Pharmacy to raise awareness of the dangers of buying medicines from fake online pharmacies and to provide resources to help US consumers buy safely.

Here is what the FDA highlights in one of their their videos

About buying Medicine online

  • You may get a fake drug, with the wrong ingredients
  • Your condition may get worse
  • You may experience a bad reaction

About learning how to be Safe

  • Identify signs of a fraudulent pharmacy
  • Get a prescription
  • Get to know your online pharmacy and only buy from a legal one
  • Take medicine as directed

Some thoughts

  • Although there are many legitimate online pharmacies, others aren’t licensed in the United States — and some aren’t pharmacies at all. So while buying prescriptions online can save time and even money, it’s important to be selective about which sites to use. Even though I think it is an important campaign as a DES Daughter victim of the biggest drug scandal, I just find it slightly ironic … Whether you buy online or offline, is taking prescription drugs ever safe? Think twice before taking any prescription drugs and be aware of all the side effects.

Breast Cancer are becoming more common in Women under 50
DES Daughters are 82% more likely to develop breast cancer after age 40 …

The number of UK women under aged 50 diagnosed with breast cancer has topped 10,000 for the first time. While it’s not clear why the rates are rising in this age group, survival rates among women under 50 are improving thanks to research and increased awareness of the disease.

DES Daughters are 82% more likely to develop breast cancer after age 40 … Could the fact that Breast cancer in women under 50 is becoming more common be explained by the fact that the majority of DES Daughters are only reaching their 40’s now … ??? Just wondering?

Bad Science by Ben Goldacre lifts the lid on quack doctors, flaky statistics, evil pharma and more

How the scientific method works, and what to look for when presented with so-called “evidence”

Bad Science by @bengoldacre lifts the lid on quack doctors, flaky statistics, evil pharma and more
Bad Science Book by Ben Goldacre

How do we know if a treatment works, or if something causes cancer? Can the claims of homeopaths ever be as true – or as interesting as the improbable research into the placebo effect? Who created the MMR hoax? Do journalists understand science? Why do we seek scientific explanations for social, personal and political problems? Are alternative therapists and the pharmaceutical companies really so different, or do they just use the same old tricks to sell different types of pill? We are obsessed with our health. And yet – from the media’s ‘world-expert microbiologist’ with a mail-order PhD in his garden shed laboratory, via multiple health scares and miracle cures, to the million pound trial that Durham Council now denies ever existed – we are constantly bombarded with inaccurate, contradictory and sometimes even misleading information. Until now. Ben Goldacre masterfully dismantles the dodgy science behind some of the great drug trials, court cases and missed opportunities of our time, but he also goes further: out of the bulls—, he shows us the fascinating story of how we know what we know, and gives us the tools to uncover bad science for ourselves.

Ben Goldacre is Britain’s finest writer on the science behind medicine, and Bad Science is the UK Sunday Times top ten bestseller

How to use Self-Publishing to promote a Charity/Cause

Introducing Judith Barrow

How to use Self-Publishing to promote a Charity/Cause
Judith Barrow self-published Silent Trauma

Find out why Judith Barrow, author of Silent Trauma, a wonderful book written to draw attention about the DES drug tragedy, self-published her novel.

I did approach my own publishers and four others. The reasons for the rejections were twofold. One was that “they wouldn’t be able to sell ‘issue–led’ novels”. And two, I was told, was the worry of being sued by the drug companies.

How BPA does harm your Fertility

and what you can learn from history with the DES world disaster…

How #BPA does harm your Fertility and what you can learn from History with the DES World Disaster
Bisphenol A (BPA) causes permanent abnormalities in the uterus of offspring, including alteration in their DNA

The Exposure  of a fetus to BPA – an endocrine disrupter chemical similar to DES Diethylstilbestrol, Journal of a DES Daughter logo – can affect his health during adulthood. What our mothers were exposed to during pregnancy influences the rest of our lives. A study led by Hugh S. Taylor, M.D., professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences at Yale, clearly shows that BPA exposure permanently affects sensitivity to estrogen.

We need to better identify the effect of environmental contaminants on not just crude measures such as birth defects, but also their effect in causing more subtle developmental errors, Taylor says.

The article  “How Does BPA Harm Your Fertility?” covers:

  • What BPA does
  • What we can learn from history
  • How to reduce Your exposure to BPA
  • Eleven tips for You to avoid BPA
